We discovered that by creating and implementing a process that effectively put plants in charge of their own irrigation, we could help solve some of the most pressing problems facing the world today, including looming issues of food production, conservation of natural resources, environmental impact, and the financial well-being of food producers.
It is estimated that, by increasing water use efficiencies by 20%, we could reduce water consumption by 9.4 trillion gallons of water per year—an improvement that could supply 86 million American residents, or about a third of the total US population, with enough water for an entire year.
We have worked to realize smarter methods for agriculture, developing new resources for food producers, including data collection and computational tools, robust real-time analysis technology, actionable data, and management tools, like interactive digital dashboards. We have done so not only because it is in the best interest of our customers throughout the agricultural supply chain, but also because we believe it’s the most promising solution for improving the long-term sustainability of man’s most precious needs—water, food, and energy.
